In the Shadow of Israel’s Genocide, Gaza Stands Victorious
Amidst ashes and ruin, what was meant to annihilate Gaza became its victory, as its spirit endures and defies Israel’s attempt at annihilation.
The Weight of Destruction
Gaza stands as a scarred testament to resilience and resistance—a place where ashes bloom into defiance, where grief births an unrelenting will to exist and persist. Over the past 15 months, Israel unleashed over 100,000 tons of munitions on this narrow strip of land—a payload six times greater than the nuclear devastation of Hiroshima.
The level of carnage and destruction is more than the combined tonnage dropped on London, Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki during World War II. Despite Gaza being subjected to an unrelenting rain of destruction, designed to erase its people, its homes, and its history, amidst the horror, Gaza endured. Its survival, its resistance, and its refusal to be erased are victories in themselves—against one of the world’s most advanced military powers backed by the United States’ imperial machinery, supposedly the most formidable in the world.
A Failed Mission of Genocide
Israel’s genocidal onslaught on Gaza—the systematic destruction of its infrastructure, the slaughter of tens of thousands, and the vaporization of entire families—was intended to annihilate Hamas and secure its captives. But it failed miserably. Despite the staggering human cost, Hamas remains defiant, its fighters walking the streets flashing victory signs, the will of the Palestinian people, unbroken. Abu Obayda, the spokesman of the Qassam Brigades, delivered a press conference in the open, a symbolic taunt to a military power that declared its mission was to obliterate him.
Even as Israel has tried to claim “total victory,” it was forced to negotiate with the very force it sought to destroy. This is not just a military failure; it is a profound humiliation for a state that weaponizes its existence to justify unspeakable atrocities. What Israel has actually accomplished is expose its true nature — a barbaric rogue state hellbent on ethnic-cleansing and genocide.
Genocide by the Numbers
The numbers are staggering. Gaza was pummeled with over 100,000 tons of explosives. For comparison: the Luftwaffe dropped 20,000 tons of bombs on London during the Blitz; Hiroshima and Nagasaki endured 15,000 tons in the atomic bombings; Dresden was leveled with 3,900 tons. Gaza alone has absorbed this unimaginable destruction. Civil Defense in Gaza reports that 10,000 bodies remain buried beneath the rubble.
At least 2,400 victims were vaporized—rendered untraceable and irretrievable due to the intensity of the bombing. Over 500,000 distress calls flooded emergency services, but the destruction of 85% of Gaza’s ambulances and 17 of its 21 Civil Defense centers left thousands without aid. The genocide is not abstract; it is quantified in these numbers, in these lives lost, in the scars of those who survive.

A Global Reckoning
Yet, Israel’s war machine, armed with American dollars and global impunity, was exposed for what it is: a murderous machine incapable of winning hearts or battles. The world watched as the U.S. poured billions upon billions to facilitate war crimes week after week. As Western media downplayed Palestinian suffering, it focused instead on humanizing a handful of Israeli hostages while dehumanizing millions of Palestinian lives. Meanwhile, Palestinian voices, like those of freed prisoner Khalida Jarrar, a leftist who was held without charge or trial in solitary confinement for months emerged stronger, amplifying the truth: that Palestine’s struggle is a united struggle, not just of survival, but of liberation and dignity.
Gaza’s Defiance Against Colonial Erasure
This war was never just about Hamas. It was about the spirit of a people who refuse to be colonized, who resist imperial erasure with everything they have. Gaza, despite being reduced to rubble, still finds ways to resist Israel’s obscene oppression and countless crimes against humanity. Palestinians in Gaza teach us that decolonization is not a metaphor but a lived, breathing struggle. To fight for dignity, self-determination, and freedom is to affirm life itself.
The Price of Genocide
Israel’s leaders, like Colonel Yogev Bar-Sheshet, admitted the genocidal intent outright, saying, “Whoever returns here… will find scorched earth. No houses, no agriculture, no nothing.” This is the very definition of genocide: the intent to destroy a people in whole or in part. And yet, Gaza refused to be erased. The ceasefire came not because Israel achieved its goals but because it could not. Its military, bolstered by the most powerful backers in the world, was thwarted by a besieged population armed with little more than ingenuity and unyielding spirit.
Former Israeli national security adviser Giora Eiland has labeled the recent war in Gaza “a resounding failure” for Israel. He acknowledged that Hamas not only thwarted Israel’s objectives but also managed to achieve its own, highlighting a sobering reality for the Israeli leadership.
Reparations and Justice Must Follow
The United States and Israel have been exposed. Their genocidal policies, their imperial arrogance, and their colonial violence are now visible to a world that can no longer look away. No amount of PR spending—Israel is reportedly pouring $150 million into “hasbara” efforts—can whitewash the images of mass graves, the testimonies of survivors, or the resilience of Gaza’s people. Reparations must be paid. War criminals must face justice. Israel’s leaders must stand trial for crimes against humanity, just as Nazi leaders did after World War II.
Gaza Rises, Unbowed
For Palestinians, this is not merely about survival—it is about a future where their humanity is recognized, where they can rebuild what was destroyed, and where their resistance is honored. The ceasefire may hold, but the genocide will not end until Israeli troops withdraw, Gaza is rebuilt, and justice is served.
In Gaza’s ruins, the seeds of liberation have been sown. It is up to us to water them, to nurture the spirit of resistance, and to ensure that their sacrifice was not in vain. Gaza teaches life. And life, even in the face of annihilation, is an unyielding force that no bomb can extinguish.
And so, Gaza will rise from the ashes, not defeated but defiant. The genocide failed. The people endure. The Resistance prevails. This is not just a victory for Gaza—it is a victory for all who dare to imagine a world free of oppression, colonialism, and imperial violence.
Heartbreaking and hopeful read. Thank you. Palestine has liberated me and for that I am indebted. Free Palestine 🇵🇸
Indeed, Gaza will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes 🇵🇸✊🏻
