The premiere of The Voice of Hind Rajab, a Tunisian documentary-drama by Kaouther Ben Hania, unleashed the longest standing ovation in the festival's history.
May this film send out shock waves throughout the world, and shake the walls of arrogance, dominance, exceptionalism, racism and brutality until they crumble and tumble down!
How anyone could have listened as it happened, and not understand the fear Hind suffered, in that car with her dead companions, as her people tried to reach her and were killed, too.
Why IOF soldiers hate Palestinians so much they would spend all that time causing such terror to a child until they finally managed to kill her in such a horrifying way shows they are without a heart or a soul between them.
Reading this, my heart is heavy, yet also strangely lifted by the strength of Hind’s voice that continues to reach across boundaries of time, distance, and even death. Her call for help was not answered in life, yet through this film, her cry is amplified so that none of us may ignore it. What happened to her is unbearable to contemplate, but when we allow ourselves to feel it, really feel it, we awaken to the responsibility we all share. To listen. To bear witness. To respond with compassion and courage.
In the bhakti tradition, the voice is often seen as sacred. A channel of the soul. Hind’s trembling words, spoken in her final hours, now resound as a prayer for justice and dignity, not only for Palestine, but for all children everywhere who deserve safety, tenderness, and peace. May her voice awaken our own, so that we rise together not in anger alone, but in love that refuses to be silent. May her memory be honoured not only with tears, but with action.

But at the same time, having to watch a movie to finally get involved and say and do something against this horror, which is real and been happening right now for at least 2 years under our very eyes says too much about a part of our "humanity".
At last these great actors understand the horrors of the genocide in Palestine. I hope now they will use their voices to pressure our governments to stop sending arms to Israel. Without our support Israel and the genocide are finished.
I hope we are all motivated to contact our governments to stop this horrific genocide and illegal land/resource guide, to stop our corporations profitting from this ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Palestine - both re: weapon sales, surveillance technology sales, Catepillar sales, and reconstruction profitting.
