While the Muslim world feasts, Palestinians in Gaza fast without choice—Israel has cut off their food, water and electricity. In a month of empathy, silence is complicity.
Thank you for writing this. Ramathaan has only heightened my empathy for Palestinians in Gaza and beyond. It’s impossible not to think of them at suhoor and futoor. I pray every person manages to find a way through. May the world continue to shift to end this brutal regime.
Thank you. Powerful article and so necessary. However, it leaves me angry and sad fearing that it is in vain, frustrated about the passiveness on one hand and the active ignorance of the tragedy on the other hand. We know by now that Palestinians cannot count on the cowardice and hypocrisy of the West. It saddens me that seemingly they cannot count on the support of the Arab world either- not even during Ramadan. What good is the pledge of funds to rebuild Gaza when there is no one left to build for? Would Israel dare to down Saudi, Jordanian, Egyptian, UAE aircraft when they established a Berlin-style air bridge? I doubt it. Still I see no action except for the Houthies which are designated as a “terrorist organisation” who have dared to announce retaliatory action against Israel’s blockade. Isn’t this telling?
If just the Muslims in the UAE boycotted shopping malls, food stores and the like, the sold-out, shameless, good for nothing leaders in the Arab world would sit up and realise that they need to tone down their collaboration with Israel. But the fact is that these so called leaders are a pathetic bunch of stooges. When American empire eventually collapses so will its puppets. The masses in the Arab world have not yet realised the power of boycotting. Ramadan- a month when we abstain from the ordinary things of life that we take for granted - should have taught us that we can abstain from luxuries in solidarity with our fellow human beings, brothers and sisters. To make Arab leaders listen we need only talk to them in the language of trade and commerce which they understand very well.
The same goes for the American empire. For the masses their labour and their buying power is the biggest leverage to effect political change. Aside from military force, it is the only language greedy, spineless, dictators in the east and west understand.

So horrific, so shameful. 💔😞 What a dark stain on all complicit in /silent about this genocide. I feel sick inside.
